As the people of the Methodist Church, we are concerned with the wholeness of each individual within God’s purpose for everyone.  We seek to safeguard all members of the church community of all ages.  It is the responsibility of each one of us to prevent physical, sexual or emotional abuse and neglect of children and young people.

Reflection of the month ... John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

'My prayer is that Christian Churches will be shaped by a renewed commitment to children, openness to children, and pledge to care and speak out for children as a clear expression of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Martyn Atkins, President of the Methodist Conference 2007

Our purpose at Chelsea Methodist Church is to help families work to their strengths, to overcome their challenges and to become the parents they strive to be, with children who flourish. In seeking to achieve this aim we provide a programme of activities designed to incorporate all ages, including, of course, parents and carers.

Daniella Fetuga-Joensuu is our full-time staff member who develops and oversees children and youth work, ably supported by the Young Church Committee (YCC) and a group of trained and dedicated volunteers as well as some paid sessional workers.
Our Safeguarding Officer is Val Campbell.
